Organizing Supplies

There’s no getting around it, when you start doing activities and crafts with your kids, supplies can start to pile up as you start collecting.

Streamline your supplies with the Supply Starter Kit and find a space to store them and be inspired to organize them in one spot.

Homework

  1. Stock up on the basic supplies using our Starter Supply Kit.
  2. Scout out a place in your house to store your activity supplies.
  3. Share your supply space in the The Activity Room: Member’s Community.

First of all, stock up on what’s needed for the majority of activities.

Starter Supply Kit for Activities

With the Starter Supply Kit, you’ll have the supplies you’ll need to do the majority of activities. There will always be a few exceptions, but even then you can likely find a substitute with what you have on hand when you have your base supplies in stock.

Once you have your supplies, it’ll feel better having a place for them.

Scout out in your home where you can keep your activity stash.

We started with a kitchen cabinet with small plastic tubs, and have now upgraded to a closet with an organizer shelf.

Here are some resources to get inspired for your activity stash:

Beyond the regular craft supplies, you’ll likely start hoarding recyclables for activities. I would suggest creating a space to collect these and when that space is full, you need to stop yourself. It can get out of hand very quickly. A larger plastic tub works great for this. Just set it next to your recycling tub and toss in items that you think you can re-use for a project.

Recycling ideas to keep on hand:

  • a cardboard box (or two)
  • an egg carton (or two)
  • toilet paper tubes, or paper towel tubes (keep a few on hand)
  • a newspaper
  • a plastic jug
  • plastic caps
  • a couple plastic bottles
